By: Corena Mastin

Being very unsightly, and hideous; Varicose veins are often found in someone's legs. This often times can be very painful, the cause of varicose veins needs to be understand before treatment can be given. The heart supplies blood to the whole body, which requires blood vessels to transfer the blood from one place to another and back to the heart too of course.

Veins carry the blood back to the heart after its been used so it can be re-oxygenated. Like the heart, these vessels are here for your life and can cause issues and problems that can lead to some special conditions and diseases like varicose veins.

There are many factors which could lead to varicose veins, and they include pregnancy, genetics, extended periods of sittings or standing, hormonal abnormalities, and obesity. It is important to find out the cause before obtaining your treatment.

Obesity is one of the major causes of varicose veins. It happens in over weight people because of the strain put onto the legs. One should attempt to hold a average body weight to lessen the chance of getting varicose veins. Table salt has been known to increase the amount of water held in the body which in turn increases the amount of blood, and body weight.

With a daily exercise routine to keep your body toned and the blood flowing good and a healthy diet you can lower the chance of getting varicose veins.

Deep vein thrombosis is also a cause of varicose veins. It leads to the veins turning of colors to dark blue or purple as well as looking like they are twisting and bulging. They also appear as a result of old age when your veins lose elasticity, the result is the veins becoming enlarged and varicose.

Overexposure to the sun also can cause these veins. A lot of sun exposure could result in the veins appearing on your face. Heredity also plays a vital role too. Since women with a history of varicose veins in their family do suffer a higher risk of getting them over other people.

If you wear sun block and limit the exposure to the harmful effects of the sun, maintain a good diet, exercise routinely, and keep your weight down, you might be able to avoid varicose veins.
