Trouble On The Rocks At Parties?

By:

Most young women often suffer from ‘DRUNKOREXIA’— A term that aptly describes ladies who stave through the day to drink at night.

Drunkorexia is the new contagion among party- hopping women of the city.It is similar to anorexia, but has a tipsy edge to it.

Simply speaking, it refers to the obsessive habit of women who starve themselves during the day to have those perfect waistlines and then indulge themselves in alcohol at parties in the night.

And alcohol on empty stomach not only makes people on any empty stomach not only makes people throw up (as these pretty women do) but it can also have bad side effects which will be dangerous for their health in the long term.

“These party animals starve at the cost of their health to look perfect in that sexy pair of jeans,” says RJ Adonica,” They avoid chocolates, protein and carbohydrates and down drinks at night recklessly to get a high.”

The urge to flaunt a good figure keeps them away from food even though the might be craving for it. “ But to look good, one also needs to feel good for within.” Says Adonica.

Monica shetty who works for Airways, says she knows many women who work out for long hours to get those perfect abs and tones legs.

“They are so conscious about their waistlines and vital statistics that they starve the entire day,” she adds, “ But the same girls end up making a mess after drinking.”

City doctors are now familiar with the ‘Drunkorexia’ phenomenon. “ Food slows the absorption of alcohol and prevents one form becoming too drunk,” says Dr Rumson, a general Physician. He says, “ I have seen many college girls who drink to look cool. But the first drink after hours of starvation has a bad effect.”

Dr Rumson adds that such unhealthy drinking habits cause serous disorders such as pain in the abdomen, gastric and nausea.” Women’s bodies have more fat, which absorbs alcohol, and it produces lower quantities of an enzyme that helps metabolize alcohol. This puts them at higher risk for blackouts and cirrhosis,” warns Dr. Rumson .It always best to consume alcohol with snacks,” adds the doctor.

Those women who end up being alcoholics also open the doors for serious ailments such as depression, anxiety and bulimia, and even cancer in the food pipe,

A nutritionist, Jessica Harrison, is sad that youngsters often overlook the basic fact that one needs a balanced diet for a healthy body and mind. “The culture of replacing balanced meals with alcohol will kill the body mechanism,” she says.

These young parties – hoppers want to stay skinny rather than be healthy. But all experts say that only a balanced diet can sustain beauty for long.
