The Alternative Medicine, Acupuncture

By: Dana Drewer

In 1972 then President Richard Nixon took a trip to China, while there an unknown to the rest of the world method a healing was discovered called acupuncture. A whole new alternative healing method that's over 2000 years old comes to light which sparks interest and concerns from medical practioners. Today it is an excepted alternative method.

Acupuncture is based on the 12 invisible lines of energy that run through the body. These lines of energy or meridians, allow the flow of energy throughout the body. If a line should become blocked, they are believed to cause illnesses such as a disease.

When these meridians or lines become blocked the flow of chE can not be acheived as natural designed in the body. People with this knowledge called acupuncturists would insert small stainless steel needles into specific sensors in the body. This would unclog the flow of chE.

To improve blood circulation and the healing process, acupuncture or needle piercing methods are used to stimulate the sensors. In some instances friction, heat, suction and even eletromagnetics are used to jazz up these sensors.

Acupuncture has been used for relief of migraine headaches, weight loss, arthritis, pain, to relieve symptoms of some diseases, fertility and this is just a small number of uses. The list is possibly endless.

Medical science has only begun to accept acupuncture as a true medical field. Over the last 40 years acupuncture has begun to have more believers in the west than previously thought. The Chinese with their centuries of education and skill at acupuncture behind them have always known that it is a necessary and useful therapy.

If you could reduce the amount of pain you have without the use of prescription medications, would you try it? There are doctors in the medical field that use both acupuncture and prescription pain medication to help their patients rest comfortably. Acupuncture now has licensed professionals that are now legitamately recognized in the medical field.

As acupuncture is now a recognized medical field, acupuncturist will need to be licensed in the state they practice. When looking for a licensed acupuncturist, you should make sure they are licensed with the local medical association.

This alternative to drugs is a great addition to any treatment being received.
