Telephone Counseling

By: Christopher00 Hartwell01

Telephone counseling is a relatively new concept and people from all walks of life have started utilizing the services of telephone counselors. Many government and non-profit groups have also started organizations that offer phone counseling. Although there are traditional avenues of counseling available, but people prefer utilizing the services of a telephone counselor as they find it more convenient and it also helps maintain an individual’s privacy and confidentiality.
The internet has made it possible for people to log onto websites like phone-counseling.org to seek counseling. Contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as a single point of contact when it comes to counseling. There are specialist counselors for problems like chemical dependence, relationships, emotional trauma and stress. In essence, a person can go straight to a specialist who has worked with similar cases. Telephone counseling has a number of advantages over normal therapy and counseling.
Most websites have simple online systems that allow individuals to contact counselors without any of the usual complications. All a person has to do is fill up a onetime registration form and then enter in his billing details. Depending on the counselor a user can then choose to chat with him online, or he can receive phone counseling by calling an 800 number that is provided online. In either case, there are no lengthy questionnaires to fill out and no queues.
Websites like phone-counseling.org have an online notification system that lets users know if a counselor is available for online counseling or not. If the counselor does not offer online counseling a user can get an appointment or call the number provided to speak to a counselor. In either case, a person does not have to wait hours before he can speak to a live person on the phone and this is by far the biggest advantage of phone counseling.
Another advantage of telephone counseling is that anyone can attend a counseling session without leaving their home; this is especially useful for people that are physically challenged or do not want to attend a counseling session outside their homes. In addition, people feel more comfortable knowing that their identities are confidential as anonymity is one of the biggest plus points of phone counseling. The charges of phone and online counseling are far lower than those of traditional counseling sessions.
A major plus point of telephone counseling is that people can make the most of their counseling without worrying about being referred over from one specialist to another. Most websites display a resume of their phone and online counselors and a person simply has to choose which counselor will suit his/her needs best. Also, websites like phone-counseling.org make it very simple for people to find phone counselors. As mentioned earlier each user’s privacy and confidentiality is paramount to counseling websites and the only details counseling websites usually require are transaction details to bill costumers.
In conclusion, phone counseling and online counseling are one of the leading ways to receive counseling without having to worry about queues, appointments and more importantly massive bills.
