Samsung FPT5084 50 in. Plasma HDTV Review

The Samsung FPT5084 50 inch Plasma HDTV is capable of creating a display that is an absolute (1080p) High Def picture. The widescreen tv is Samsung's first venture into the 1080 high definition market. Typically, plasma televisions have had problems displaying darker black colors. However, this TV does a pretty good job. In my opinion, the FPT5084 is definitely on par or better than most of the plasma tvs being sold today. Even though the picture quality is pretty good right out of the box, some tuning was needed to achieve the best picture. Luckily, the Samsung FPT5084 provides a variety of picture controls that are user friendly. Once it has been tuned, the Samsung television delivers a bright and colorful image. The high definition TV is able to manage a broad color range very well.

The Samsung FPT5084 HDTV is sleek and visually appealing. Samsung has placed the speakers to the side of the 50 in screen, instead of on the bottom. This makes the panel shorter and wider, which, in turn, is easier on the eyes. The sides of the TV also consist of chrome strips, which angle towards the outer edges of the TV and conceal the speakers. The top and bottom frame of the Samsung FPT5084 is thin for a plasma of 50". The bottom panel includes a blue light and the Samsung logo. However, this feature can be turned off.

The Samsung FP-T5084 Plasma HDTV is a quality tv that is recommended to anyone who is looking for an affordable 1080p HDTV. I would like to see a screen that would better reduce glare and better processing of non-hd programming, but this is in no particular way a deal breaker. Hopefully, Samsung will address these issues with their next television. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the performance of this tv and believe that this is a great buy.
