Making Your Home Inviting With Front Yard Landscaping

By: Mr.Andrew Caxton

Landscaping your front yard can instantly make your home feel more inviting and warm. Giving this area a touch of your personality will help to enhance your home and your environment.

One great way to express your personality to your friends and family is in your front yard landscaping. This is a great way to make your home feel more welcoming and inviting. Look at your front yard now. If you were driving by your house, would you want to come and visit? If the answer is “no” or “I’m not sure” then you need to rethink your landscaping in the front yard.

Increase the Interest Level
A stranger’s first impression of you is tied up in how your home and front yard look. To make your home seem more inviting, you may want to consider planting some flowers in your yard. This is an easy way to enhance your front yard and your home. They can be used to line your sidewalk to the front door or they can be planted in flowerbeds around the front of your home. Either way, you will be adding color and interest to your home that will make your home feel more welcoming.

The Appeal of Trees
One easy way to enhance your porch or a property line is to plant trees or shrubs. Shrubs can make any property look neater and more welcoming as long as they are properly taken care of and trimmed. It is important to refrain from using trees that may drop leaves on walkways and make them dangerous. A fruit or dogwood tree is a good choice for the front yard area. They look beautiful and they can scent your lawn with a calming and sweet scent.

Do Not Forget Your Porch
Depending upon the size of your front porch, you can make it a part of your landscaping design. One way that you can make your porch seem more welcoming is to add benches, chairs, tables, and other accent pieces. This will help to give your porch a comfortable and warm look that will draw people to your home. Your patio or front porch is also an ideal location for plants and other greenery in pots or climbing on the railing or an archway. By making your front porch or patio more comfortable, you are increasing your living space.

Sidewalk Maintenance
Make sure that you keep your sidewalk and pathway clean and well maintained. If your sidewalk needs repair due to cracks or flaking, then you need to fix it so that it is safer and visually appealing. Rock, decorative stone, or concrete sidewalks are the easiest to clean and maintain. You can even add some creative touches with colored tile or stone to help make your pathway a focal point of your front yard landscaping.

Water Feature
If you want to make your front yard more relaxing, then you will want to think about adding a small fountain or pond. Choose the size of your water feature based upon the size of your front yard so that it is not overwhelming. You can even add some brick or stone as a foundation to your water feature or as a border.

Simpler Is Better
Front yard landscaping should be simple and neat. You do not want your front yard to look cluttered, because it will take away from the welcoming feeling that you are trying to create. By keeping your landscaping neat and orderly, you will be enhancing your home and making it more welcoming to your friends and family. That is your goal, isn’t it?
