By: Peter Vermeeren

Low testosterone can affect you without your knowing it. If you know the effects, you might be able to understand what is ailing you and take effective steps to prevent the damage. Read all about it in this article.

Low Testosterone - How Do You Know It?

In case you are exercising enough and still have long time in building your muscles, it might be due to the fact that you might have a low testosterone level in your body. It might not be the only reason but it can be one of them. If at the same time you feel tired and feel reduced sexual desire or general weakness, it is time to go a medical practitioner and get yourself examined for low testosterone levels. The doctor might order a testosterone count to be done, and prescribe you medication for it.

When You Are Most Vulnerable For Low T

When you at the peak of health, you might not be so worried about the effects of Low T, but when you cross the age of 35 to 40 you might start feeling the pinch. The first indication will come from the reduced sexual drive (and may be a complaint from your spouse) and you might start feeling less energetic.

What About Women?

Women are also vulnerable to a low T count. The estrogen in women is responsible for maintaining feminine traits and a small amount of testosterone is present in bodies of all women. The T level in men is of the order of 350 and 1230 nano-grams per deciliter. (A nano-gram is 0.000,000,001 of a gram and a deciliter is 100 milliliter).

The T level in women is less than the third of the amount in men. With increasing age, the estrogen (that has controlling function in women’s lives) decreases and low levels of testosterone start affecting women’s lives and it accounts for changes in mood of the menopausal behavior of women. So the women are as vulnerable as men but the effect is more pronounced in the old age.

How Low T Affects You

Low T might affect you in many ways. The major ones are

1. You might feel reduced sexual desire. The reduced sex drive is is more pronounced in case of men than women.

2. When you are involved in sex play, your erection may be less strong than it used to be and might last for less time than in the past.

3. You might feel lack of energy for doing your normal work. This is in spite of the fact that your work does not require physical efforts.

4. Your moods keep on changing over the day and violent changes in mood become the order of the day for you.

5. The men who have been on the testosterone replacement regime, experience changes in mood when the treatment is stopped and mod changes stops when the treatment is resumed.

6. Your muscles may lose the tightness it used to have.

7. Your work performance might also drop to a certain extent.

8. Your performance in your favorite sport does not remain the same as it was in the past.

When you feel the effects like the one stated above, it is time to go to a doctor and get yourself examined for low T. If you do that you might return to the same form that you had in the past.
