Is UV Free Tanning Safe?

By: Betty P Davis

With all of the information out there about the harm that UV rays can cause, many people are hesitant to use a type of indoor tanning bed or booth. Those with a family history of skin cancer, they are pregnant, or they are taking medications that can be ineffective with UV exposure do have some other options though that are available at the tanning salons.

There are two main ways in which spray on tans can be applied to the body. They offer an overall tan that looks very natural. You won't have to worry about looking orange or streaking like you normally do with most of those at home tanning sprays and lotions. The first method is airbrush tanning and the second takes place in a booth.

One type of UV free tanning that is commonly offered is called airbrushing. This process will take about 30 minutes but it is worth it for the tan you will walk out with. The process involves a technician using a small air compressor and a hose to spray the product on your body. Some people are very uncomfortable with this type of UV free tanning process. They are self conscious about their bodies and they don't want to be on display with a stranger. You can choose to wear a bathing suit if you feel more comfortable for this procedure.

Airbrush UV free tanning is a very popular choice. Many tanning salons offer it because they don't have to invest very much in the equipment. This process involves an actual person spraying you with the product while you are standing up. They have a small air compressor and what looks like an air hose attached to it. You can take off all of your clothes or choose to have something on underneath. They are professionals so they don't care either way.

When you are ready, push the button and you will get a mist of the spray. You will need to turn around and do it again go get an all over tan. After you are done, simply towel off the excess spray and you can get dressed and be on your way. The spray won't come off on your clothes after you are done. You can go back to work or anywhere you want to go for the day.

There is no research to indicate that the materials used for UV free tanning are harmful to people in any way. You have no reason to be worried if you happen to breath it in while the procedure is taking place. It will look very natural and as the tan starts to fade away you can schedule another appointment so that you always have the beautiful looking tan that you want.

These types of UV free tans last anywhere from 3 days up to 10 days. It really depends on your skin type. There are some things you can do to make sure that the tan lasts as long as possible. Keep your skin moisturized and the spray will get deep into your skin. Exfoliate the morning before you go to the tanning session so that your have removed all the dead skin. You should avoid swimming and showering for at least 8 hours after your tanning session.

If you are interested in what UV free tanning can offer, you should check with the local tanning salons in your area. If they don't offer it, they may decide to if enough people continue asking about it. You will be able to get a gorgeous tan without exposing your body to the harmful UV rays. You will also be able to get a tan much faster with these UV free tanning options.
