Is There Something More Productive?

Last week I wrote about the importance of looking at things with the perspective that you might be doing too much. I shared with you that sometimes you have to make the tough decision of giving up something, regardless of whether or not it is working well, and replacing it with something you believe could work even better for you.
This month we made a major business decision as a result of this process. Our current office in Raleigh has worked very well for our customers because it is centrally located in Raleigh. However, most of our coaches and I spend upwards of one hour per day driving to and from the office, and that takes valuable time away from our families. I am sure that many of you know how it is to drive to work in the morning to a job that you hate. Well I, for one, happen to love what I do and the people I get to meet and work with every day. My morning drive starts out wonderful for the first 3 blocks, until I meet one of these people that does not like where they have to go each morning. Maybe it is time for those people to look at what is not working in their lives and make a change!?
I believe that your work should be built around your life and not the other way around. My life is who I am and I think my work should compliment that. I know there is not a shortage of people out there needing career coaching, and that is one of the reason’s we exist.
Our new office will be open on Thursday, November 1st, and will still be very accessible to our clients. The big change is that is it about 12 miles less of a drive for me, and I can even ride my bike!
