Improve Your Bedroom with Feng Shui

By: Aazdak Alisimo

Feng Shui may be new to you, but it has a massive historical signficance as the dominant theory in China for thousands of years. On a personal level, you can use it to make your bedroom a more restful and intimate room.

For you to reach your goals, you need a space you can be happy in. This is Feng Shui in a nutshell. It is based on the idea of making your personal space a place of harmony where energy flows without being impeded and so do you.

The first step to giving your bedroom a tuneup has to do with indoor pollution. It is unhealthy to let air become stale and cluttered with dust, dirt and germs. Open the windows and get the circulation going to immediately feel better.

Now that the air is clean, it is time to focus on the organization of the room. Many bedrooms now have television sets. This is bad Feng Shui because it creates a distratction. Remove your television to create more harmony.

The second phenomena of clutter in the bedroom is the exercise equipment. Whether you end up using it as a clothes hanger or actually use it for exercise, the bedroom is not the place to have it. It interferes with the flow of energy so move it out.

The bedroom is a place of rest and tranquility. As such, the lighting need not be blazing like the sun. Use soft lighting bulbs and a dimmer to give it a softer feel. Light is a key manifestation of Feng Shui, so always keep it in mind.

Synchronicity is an aspect of Feng Shi. In this case, it means your bedroom should be painted in softer colors to reflect the lighting. The best colors range from off white through the entire spectrum of brown.

The bed is, of course, the focal point of the bedroom. The rules are sharply defined. It must be placed where it can be walked up to on three sides. Never place it directly in front of the door used to enter or leave the room.

Feng Shui is about creating a harmonious environment where you can gain the most from your purpose in it. The purpose of the bedroom is to relax and heal, whether personally or while in a relationship. Keep the focus there and you should be fine.
