By its acquisition of most players in the world of cricket, the Indian Premier League has managed to move everything in its way like a thunder rumbling across. The formation of the IPL cricket league is certainly not the result or aftermath of the Indian win over the Twenty20 World Cup which was initially termed as “a waste of time” by high officials in BCCI. It is due to the formation of the Indian Cricket League by some former Indian cricket players who wanted to move the monopoly of BCCI over Indian cricket that the concept of the IPL came around.

Taking inspiration from English Premier League, BCCI started the idea of Indian Premier League where the support of cricket boards of various countries has been sought. players from different countries have been allowed to play in the IPL Cricket League and they are being paid heavy sums for doing so.

Amounts so large are involved in both these ventures that using the word “enormous” will be underestimating them. Auctions of the players and the state teams in the IPL have attracted big business houses, Bollywood actors, millionaires from all over the world. It is the big names that are paying that have made all the difference in the IPL.

Cricket is considered to be more like a religion in India than just a sport. People have their passion with this game and passion is one virtue where everything else takes a backseat. With matches in this league to start in April 2008, everybody has their fingers crossed and is hoping for the great entertainment.
