Father's Day Gift Ideas

By: Jake Forrest

Father's Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad. What you might not know is that Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide. Of course here in the US, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. While the origin of this holiday is not clear, it is credited to a Sonora Louise Smart Dodd from Creston, WA who had been raised by her father William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran, on a rural farm in eastern Washington state after their mother died during childbirth. Judging by the greeting cards, Father's Day is like a Sabbath for many men, a day Dad puts his feet up.

Father's Day is the time for kids to show Dad their appreciation. Why not teach your young kids to give their dads something handmade and more meaningful for Father's Day. Kids can spend a bit of time making cards or coloring pages for Dad. Get out the crayons and print these pictures for the kids. Your kids will delight when they engage in these activities, and I bet you will, too. The best way to have children show their dads just how much they care is with homemade cards, handmade gifts, breakfast in bed and displaying their best behaviour for a WHOLE day.

It's nice when you give him a card too. It's important for dad to know mom appreciates his fatherhood and parental roles. Your appreciation can be large or small. On the small side even a Hallmark card, especially a funny one, can put a real smile on his face. By the way, did you know that this year Father's day card giving may top over 100 million? Now that's a lot of cards.

Through different activities and events we make our dad feel very special on the Fathers Day and tell him that "Dad you mean the world to us". Indulging the sweet daddies with breakfast in bed; gifting out cards, flowers, chocolates ,neckties, shirts, electronic gadgets, stationery items; games and various other activities, get-togethers mark Father's Day to strengthen the bond between a father and child and are the traditional way of celebrating Father's Day not only in U. Each June on Father's Day, families treat Dad to dinner out or a special day of Dad-centered activities.

If you are going to go big with a gift for your dad, a GPS is a cool gadget most dads will love. If your father is the James Bond type who needs a GPS for the car, the boat/yacht, trails, and hunting, then there's only one GPS for you: Magellan's CrossOver GPS. If your dad is a biker dude, the best motorcycle GPS may just be Garmin's zumo 550 which provides all the features of a top automotive GPS and customizes Garmin's interface so it's glove-friendly and has left-handed controls makes to easy to operate while driving. One important consideration in selecting a GPS no matter what brand you are looking at is routing quality. Even if two GPS units have identical maps installed, they may choose very different routes. That's because there's a lot of math and algorithms behind how GPS devices figure out the "best" route to your destination. Another consideration is ease of use. Be sure to use the criteria listed above to make sure you buy the right GPS.

Father's Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad. Father's Day is celebrated with enthusiasm and gifts galore to reflect on the invaluable role and contribution of fathers in the family. To fathers around the world, we hope your Father's Day is just the way you like it!
