All the Ways to Pick a Teapot

As an on line browser and shopper, you will find getting the perfect teapot for yourself is an easy, yet at the same time difficult, task. You will find it simple because you just have to perform a google or yahoo search to locate many pages of teapots to look at. The difficulty will come in choosing just one or two pots to call your own.

Not only are there so many different types of teapots to choose from, there are all the varied things that can be added. Many of them come with, or can use, the very many different types of add-ons such as infusers, strainers, timers, thermometers, handles and bases which can be removed, and so on. It can get very confusing for the a novice tea drinker to know just what she should get.

Getting back to the teapots themselves, you will find they are made from lots of different materials. There are metals ones like the beautiful silver tea services you can find. There are porcelain ones. Different kinds of clay make different types of teapots such as the red clay Brown Betty. Some are made from plastic and some from glass. The later can provide an interesting show for the "agony of the leaves".

Next after materials, is the shape of the tea pot. You can find a tea pot in just about any shape such as one with six sides or made to look like a rabbit. There are the interesting looking Russian samovars. There are tall pots and squat pots.

They come in every color under the sun. There are the various shades of purple of Yixing clay pots from China. There are the red and white Staffordshire tea pots. Of course there is the silver color of silver and stainless steel pots. There are the traditional blue and white pots of Europe.

Finding a teapot from a specific location can probably be done if that is what you want. Being a person who wants a teapot, at least enough to look on line, probably means you want something you can't find locally. It might be a Tetsubin from Japan or a special Staffordshire from Great Britain. It could be the most fragile porcelain from China. Whatever it is, there are teapots from all around the world.

Going beyond the other characteristics of the teapot, you will also find that the times have left their mark as well. Each movement or fashion has affected the humble tea pot. Among these you will find Art Deco, Rococo, 60's modernism, and Art Nouveau. If you have a taste for a particular art or architectural style, you just might be able to find a teapot that reflects it.

Lastly, not only will your aesthetic senses decide the teapot for you, but the tea you like to drink will as well. There are so many different factors in choosing a teapot. Sometimes it's simply a matter of saying, "I like that one."
