Adding Luxury To Your Child's Room

By: Jena Luthovski

When decorating a child’s room you can add a little bit of luxury to their bedroom. If your entire house has luxurious interior decorating you can add a touch of elegance to your child’s bedroom and still keep it a fun atmosphere. One of several ideas would be to add a little tropical fantasy to your child’s bedroom.

If you want colorful pictures of palm-fringed beaches or boats bobbing in the sea, you could walk in to a craft store and pick up wall adhesives. These can be easily stuck on the wall and can be conveniently removed without residue if the child wants a change.

In case you want to create the pictures on the wall you could draw with acrylic paint. Keep in mind the overall color scheme in the room. You could create a mural with a theme or just hang pictures that the child has drawn. If your child is brimming with doodles, you could have a blackboard wall in which he or she could come up fresh sketches almost daily.

The furnishing fabrics used in a child’s room should complement the wall color. It follows that these should be in vibrant shades and be ready to take some mischievous handling. If you are not convinced with off-the-shelf products, you could choose the fabrics and get the bedding custom made to suit your child’s needs. Stick to natural shades, as these are soothing. Always make two sets of bedding for children, one heavy and the other light. This is just so that the tropical theme could be maintained throughout the year.

Why leave the ceiling? You could add a dash of the huge sky by sticking wall adhesives of the sun and stars. These can be changed easily and children would look forward to the changing pattern of day and night right inside their room.

Information is available aplenty from magazines, furniture stores and online design magazines and furniture stores.

There are three important things to remember while decorating your child’s room with a luxurious flair. First, you must be prepared for changes, sometimes very often, as the child grows very fast and finds other interesting interiors options. Second, as far as possible, try to include little things put together by the child. Paintings, hand crafted works; mosaic etc. can add luxury. This enhances the self-esteem of the child and makes her or him look forward to coming into the room. Third, make the child an active participant in the decoration effort. This means helping out with putting up the things in their places as well as in choosing the right materials for decoration.
